Reservation

  1. For disabled candidates: 3% disability reservation is considered for candidates with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity. Other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for the GNM programme. Medical certificate should be obtained from authorized Medical Board of State Government.
  2. Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy.
  • Note: Quotas shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats and not above it.

Age:

Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December 2022). The upper age limit is 35years. For ANM/ LHV, there is no age bar.

Duration of the Course:

Duration of the Diploma Course in General Nursing and Midwifery shall be 3 years. The maximum period allowed to complete General Nursing and Midwifery Course is 6 years.

Syllabus:

Syllabus of the course shall be the revised General Nursing Midwifery Syllabus 2015 of the Indian Nursing Council.

No. of Seats:

The total number of the seats to General Nursing and Midwifery Course is 60

How to Apply:

Application forms are available in the office on remittance of Rs.250/-. Filled application along with documents should be submitted to the office of the nursing school before the time and date notified for the same. 

Documents to be submitted along with the Application are:

  1. Copies of Mark lists of all parts of Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination and pass certificate in the qualifying examination.
  2. Copy of the relevant page of S.S.L.C or Equivalent certificate to prove the date of birth.
  3. Copy of Aadhaar
  4. Equivalency certificate from Higher Secondary Board, Kerala, for candidates who have completed qualifying examination from outside Kerala state.
  5. For foreign nationals, the entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard can be obtained from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
  6. Copy of recent Conduct Certificates (not prior to six months) from the Head of the Institution in which the candidate studied last.
  7. Caste and income certificate from Village officer/ Tahsildar if the candidate is to be considered under any reservation seat (SC/ST, OBC). There is no need for income certificate for SC/ST candidates.
  8. Transfer Certificate 

Mode of admission:

Admission to Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery will be made on merit as assessed on the basis of the total marks secured by the candidates for the Part III optional subjects at the Plus two examination/equivalent examination. Science group with Physics, Chemistry, Biology is preferable. In the absence of candidates with science group, candidates with other groups also will be considered.

If there is a tie in the total marks in the optional subjects, the candidate with higher marks in English at the +2/equivalent examination will be ranked higher. In case there is still a tie, the candidate with higher total aggregate marks in +2/equivalent examination will be ranked higher. If there is still a tie, the rank will be decided on the basis of date of birth, i.e., the elder person will be ranked higher.

Selection

Candidates will be called for interview and certificate verification by Selection Committee and select list will be prepared by the Committee. Candidates should produce original certificates and documents for verification at the time of interview.

The selection committee will consist of

  1. Council Nominee
  2. Representative of  management of the institution
  3. Principal of the School of Nursing
  4. Nursing Superintendent of parent hospital
  5. Vice Principal of the School of Nursing,

The select list will be published by the Principal, School of Nursing on the day of Interview.

Anti - Ragging

According to the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act. 1998, ‘ragging’ means doing of any act by disorderly conduct to a student of an educational institution, which causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm or raising apprehension or shame or embarrassment to student and includes teasing or abusing or playing practical jokes or causing hurt to such students or asking a student to do any act or to perform something which such students will not in the ordinary course be willing to do.

All institutions will have to abide by the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of India. Dated May 16, 2007 in SLP No. (S) 24295 of 2006 University of Kerala Vs. Council Principal’s Colleges, Kerala & Ors. (with SLP(C) No. 24296-99/2004 and WP (Crl.) No. 173/2006 & SLP (C) No.14356/2005] and the recommendations approved by the Honorable Supreme Court of India on effective prevention of ragging in educational institutions.

In case the applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later, he/she shall be expelled from the educational institutions.

Each of the student of the institution and his/her parents or guardian are required to submit a combined, undertaking at the time of registration/admission in prescribed format available in Annexure II which is mandatory for registration/admission.

Concession

Selected candidates are eligible for educational concession/scholarship/ grants/admissible for SC/ST/OEC candidates.

Hostel facility will be provided to candidates, if required in the campus.

Students are liable to undergo GNM course and its syllabus as stipulated by Indian Nursing Council.
